UPDATED COVID-RELATED POLICIES

(Fall 2022)

“The more things change, the more they stay the same.” ~ Alphonse Karr

Though so much has changed since the early outbreak of COVID-19, many things remain very much the same.

Due to the nature of my work as a massage therapist, spending extended periods of time in such close proximity with people, I continue to uphold the following policies and protocols for the health and safety of you and me, our families and friends, and every client who comes in after you.

PLEASE NOTE: I am still seeing ONLY fully vaccinated clients. Proof of vaccination will be required for all clients.

**UNDERLYING CONDITIONS**

According to the CDC, people with the following underlying conditions are at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19: People 65 years old and older, Asthma (moderate to severe), Diabetes, Severe Obesity, Compromised or Suppressed Immunity, Chronic Kidney, Heart, Lung, or Liver Disease, Cancer Diagnosis, Blood Disorders.

*Anyone with one or more pre-existing health conditions mentioned above should discuss their specific vulnerability with their doctor before scheduling an appointment.

*If your physician gives you clearance for massage, please let me know your high risk factors when we schedule your appointment.

*Anyone who has had COVID may be at higher risk for blood clots. People at high risk of blood clots as a result of COVID or any other condition should speak with their physician before scheduling an appointment for massage.

Current massage guidelines dictate light pressure only under these circumstances. Reiki, a gentle, hands-on technique, that is deeply relaxing and helps to relieve stress, may be an alternative to massage in this situation.

HEALTH SCREENING

The day before your appointment, I may call, email or text you to check in about your health. If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms the day before or the day of your appointment (sore throat, runny nose, fever/chills, cough, gastrointestinal issues, recent loss of smell or taste), we will need to reschedule your session.

If you or a family member/close contact has been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID within the past 10 days, OR if you or a family member/close contact has tested positive for COVID within the past 10 days, we will need to reschedule your appointment.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Remember — there is no charge for cancelling your appointment.

MASKS

I’m still requiring clients to wear a mask, even if you are fully vaccinated. Both NOSE and MOUTH MUST BE COVERED AT ALL TIMES — even when you’re face down on the table. This is for YOUR safety, as well as those coming in AFTER you. Cloth masks, valve-type masks, bandanas/scarves do not count as masks. Surgical masks (pleated, typically pastel blue) are not permitted because they do not form a safe, well-fitted seal against the face. I have appropriate KN95 masks if you need one. Please have your mask on when you arrive, covering your nose and mouth, with metal nose piece pinched to fit snugly. This helps to keep your mask from falling below your nose, and eliminates the need to constantly readjust it.

GENERAL PROCEDURES

When you enter the building (with your mask on), please wash your hands thoroughly or use the hand sanitizer, and I will do the same. Please repeat the process after your session before you leave.

Two air purifiers with HEPA filters will be running in the room throughout your session. When possible, the window will be open for increased ventilation. Although the vaccine/boosters may not provide 100% protection against contracting COVID-19, the use of quality air purifiers and well-fitting masks seem to play a significant role in reducing transmission of the virus.

Between client appointments throughout the day, I continue to use hospital grade disinfectant, and allow extra time to change the air in the room. The table is then made up with clean linens and a clean blanket.

**Please notify me if you become ill within 14 days after your session so that my family and I can be tested and quarantined to prevent further spread of the virus.

I know this is a LOT of information. I trust you to help keep us all safe, and I hope you trust me to do the same. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

I appreciate your patience and your loyalty. I look forward to seeing you and working together.
